Over the last month or so, I have been to St Mark’s and met with their Global Missions Team, I shared fellowship with Emmanuel Indonesian Presbyterian Church on Mother’s Day, and got to judge a fried rice cooking competition! I also recently met with the Executive Director of Teens Run DC, which is a great organization, and they are looking for runners (yes, literally runners) who want to act as team members and mentors.
The Mission Coordinating Committee also approved two grants this past month, one for Takoma Park’s Racial Mindfulness Training and the other for Capital Hill’s work with a field education student from Howard Divinity that will help them with worship, and also with facilitating community forums on Race.
I am always looking for Churches to visit and Mission Committee meeting to attend. I recently created a power point that is ready to be shared with churches that explain how congregations can access and benefit from the Presbytery’s Mission efforts, along with how churches can help the presbytery. Please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org to invite me to come to either a Mission Committee meeting or a Session meeting.
And lastly, the best way to keep track of where I have gone, and what I have learned about our wonderfully diverse presbytery is through
1. My twitter feed @NCPMIssion
2. 2. A brand new Mission Specific Website: www.nationalcapitalmission.org
The Website is brand new, and will continue to grow as I go out to more and more congregations and learn more about what is going on in this presbytery. When you visit, you will see on the home page a gallery of images. These are photos I take when I go and visit a congregation, along with a quick summary about what they are up to. The site also has info about the Mission Coordination Committee, upcoming events, a blog that I keep up, along with Mission related grant information. If you have ideas for how to make the site better, let me know!
If you have an event coming up that you want highlighted on the site, let me know, and I will get it up there!
