Every three years, a group of Presbyterian Women travels to another part of the world to learn about the lives of women in that part of the world and to share faith stories and ministries with each other. It is a global exchange because, the following year, a group of women from the same part of the world is invited to attend the Church wide Gathering of Presbyterian Women to tell their stories to their North American sisters. The 2017 Global Exchange will take a group of U.S. Presbyterian women to Indonesia, September 12–29, 2017. Guided by Romans 1:12 (“. . . so that we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine”) participants will learn how to live respectfully in an multi-faith culture and encourage and accompany one another as together they seek a more peaceful and just world. See http://pma.pcusa.org/ministries/pw/global-exchange/ for more information. One woman from each synod attends, and then brings programs to churches in her synod. Because the Synod of the Mid-Atlantic had no volunteer apply during the original application period, a brief window of opportunity to apply now exists.
Please see the original letter requesting applications below:
Dear PW Sisters,
PW Churchwide has asked me to alert you that there is still time to apply to go on next September's Global Exchange to Indonesia. The deadline has passed, but when I was in Louisville earlier this month, it came to our attention that we do not have an applicant from the Synod of the Mid-Atlantic. When possible, it's optimal when there is a participant from each Synod on the trip.
Please look over the APPLICATION and REFERENCES documents and prayerfully consider whether 2017 is the year for you to have an adventure! If 2017 isn't your year, please forward to other PW who you think might like the opportunity.
