Central to OPMH's local mission is their Family-to-Family Ministry which provides emergency assistance to the local community. They also provide a weekly breakfast through their Open Table program.  Members participate in the Alexandria Tutoring Consortium, and supports Alive!, Building Better Futures, the Fund for Alexandria's Child and the United College Ministries in Northern Virginia.  The congregation supports Arlandria Health Clinic and the Queen Street Clinic as well as the Carpenter's Shelter and Rebuilding Together.

In addition, OPMH partners with area faith communities is providing bag lunches for the needy.  Members volunteer with Meals on Wheels, and provide dinners at Christ House and the Carpenter's Shelter.  OPMH supports Guest House - Alexandria and the Good News Mission as a means of reaching out to those connected to the prison system.

OPMH is active in global mission as well, supporting a partnership in Kenya, the Community Coalition for Haiti, the Minesterio De Fe in Mexico and two partnerships in Pakistan.  

The congregation also supports the Young Adult Volunteer program, as well as Union Presbyterian Seminary (Richmond) and Presbyterian Disaster Assistance.
